weekend gratefulness

weekend gratefulness:
for some family time
for some creative time
for an awesome neighbor cookout
for healthy kids who
played soccer...
and baseball
and golf
and the golfer won 2nd place at a tournament here
and for wonderful grandparents who took him there
and for the new scout backpack
and for some family "sweat equity" work at our house being renovated...
good for all of us to feel vested in this place called home
and for getting giant bubblegum at the hardware store
and for getting the call that my dear friend Kate and her husband are adopting a baby boy!!!!
and for praise and worship
and for being the guest speaker to the women at a church in Matthews this morning
and for the sunshine and the beautiful weather
and the beautiful flowers everywhere
and for doing hair and make up and painted toenails with her
before her big debut show at our church
it was Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat
it was awesome!
and for the talented kids and adults involved in using their time and talent
to pull this off in three weeks
and that the monies raised will go to our youth and music ministry trips
which will bless many.
and for her sweet smile that I never ever want to forget.

How was your weekend?
Was your weekend full of gratefulness too?
xoxo,
Caroline

a little preview...

I have decided I need more arms.
I bet you may agree with me on this.
In particular, right arms....because I am right handed, ya' know.
And since I am being picky I'd really like several more, like 5-10 more.
Having trouble here creating art fast enough for clients,
which really is a wonderful problem to have;
oh yeah and we're renovating the entire house.
I think I have 24 canvases going at once right now...
some watercolors too and even creating some 3-D prototypes.
My studio looks like my 14 year old's closet....
enough said, you get the picture.
But it's all good.
Finishing the final touches for a full Christmas collection,
new art to a new client which I hope to share soon,
and finishing the pieces for the upcoming Carolina Art Soiree.
Hope you will join me there if you are near Charlotte.
It's gonna' be super, fabulous, terrific, extraordinary, special, fun, outstanding...
can you tell I'm excited?

Here's a peek at just one of the new pieces...

So looking forward to this special event
and supporting my precious friend Hannah
Isn't it amazing to see how people turn a trial from their life into a testimony?
Hannah has certainly done this.
She has poured hours of her heart and soul into this cause
and this event
which has raised thousands of dollars toward GBS research.
Mark your calendar...it's going to be a wonderful evening!
Blessings,
Caroline
P.S.
Pretty please don't forget to shop the BOGO Skinit event.
You can learn more about that

mwha! thank you...

Celerie Kemble and the Mint Museum

Today I was blessed to spend part of the day at this event:
It was a lovely "ladies day..."
Nothing like getting decked out first thing in the morning.
It was quite the change from either my studio clothes covered in paint or work out clothes.
In 1936, the Mint Museum of art opened as North Carolina's first art museum.
It was interesting to read and hear some of the history of the Mint and the Auxiliary.
The partnership between the Mint Museum and the Auxiliary is strong
and blesses Charlotte and our community in many ways.
The best part was attending with my dear friend Kate.
She's so beautiful inside and out, brave and courageous too.
Isn't her Lilly Pulitzer dress fabulous?
After the amazing silent auction....
we heard the featured speaker

It was neat to hear her story and learn
how this Harvard graduate who worked briefly in film production
finally gave in to her talent and gift of interior design.
Not the best photos here but you can see what a lovely event it was
and held at the lovely Charlotte Country Club.

After Celerie's talk we headed to our tables for the luncheon which was delicious.
Great conversations with sweet women.
And what a nice surprise...
we all received a signed copy of one of her books...
this one is called Black & White (and a bit in between)
you can find it here if you are interested
and you can find her latest book called

To Your Taste: Creating Modern Rooms with a Traditional Twist

here
*a few peeks inside the scrumptious pages...

Thanks to my sweet friend Lynn who is the reason I was able to attend.
Wonderful insight into the world of interior design, balancing motherhood and your passion,
color, art, texture, pattern and design.
Vintage talk, flea market finds, salvaged materials, architectural elements = awesomeness!
Wonderful women, silent auction, delicious food, a great cause, a fabulous museum...
pinch me.

Blessings,
Caroline

P.S.
Pretty please don't forget to shop the BOGO Skinit event.

standing on the Word....

Well last week the men came to pour the concrete for our new back porch...
part of it's covered, part uncovered.
We can't wait to make memories in this special space.
I had to be there and meet with them early that morning.
Checked to make sure the brown concrete stain was the one we'd selected
and chose the size of the scoring for the 4 x 4 squares.
Nicest family-owned concrete company ever.
James, the owner (now in his early 80s and his son Allen and his team were amazing to watch.
And it was this sweet man, James who noticed our scripture on the inside walls
which you may remember here.
When he brought it up he then proceeded to share a story of a man long ago
who for whom he had done concrete work.
After he shared the wonderful story and idea I asked how long it would be
until they started pouring..."about 20 minutes" he said.
I sped to the nearest store and bought what I needed.
Bible -check
clear storage box -check
And so the story goes...
I wrote on the inside cover...our family names, our address, the year...
then I opened it to the 23rd Psalm, read it and smiled...teared up.
then precious James found some Saran wrap-like material
and we covered the opened Bible and placed it in the open box.
James proudly wears this hat every single day and what a witness he is to many.
We laid it inside the open area of the patio surrounded by rocks.
He marked our location so we'd remember.
And then they started pouring the concrete.
I know, it looks yucky but it looks pretty now, trust me!
It was a special moment and it was fascinating to watch...
wish the kids could have seen it but they were all in school,
they have all seen the pictures and video though.
And then once it was scored...
James made a cross per my request
right in the spot where our Bible is located.
And now we will literally be standing on the Word of God.
How cool is that?
Blessings on your day,
Caroline

spring is stunning!
isn't it?
spring reminds me of this verse:
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.
Isaiah 6:3
yep...the whole earth...every single detail of it!
What's your favorite spring flower?
