As I mentioned here, the vintage linens I discovered last weekend
at the flea market deserve their own post.
Ok, all you sweet and talented quilters and sewing enthusiasts out there who read my blog...
I'd love your help and advice.
This is a queen size sheet
with so much hand made love all over it.
It's just too gorgeous to be under a bedspread!
And can you stand it....it was a whopping $8!
I think the clusters of designs should be cut and used to make something else...
Should it be pillows? Clothing? Accessories?
Any thoughts and ideas welcome!
big love for the chocolate brown butterfly...
someone worked so diligently on this...
I also found two table cloths....made by hand which I love
because it makes me wonder who poured love into these beautiful stitches.
Who enjoyed meals on these and now aren't I fortunate to get to do the same?
...all because someone took the time to make these pretties.
This large round has crocheted details which spill over the sides.
Yummy and only $8 too!
Here's the other tablecloth...a large square with cheery spring pink a green...
quite southern I think and absolutely love the shape of the leaves.
Yep, only $8 as well...
more detail here...so pretty, right?
What ideas do you have for the queen sheet?
What vintage goodness have you discovered lately?
Would love to hear about your treasures.
xoxo,
Caroline
that pink and green table cloth is really different. I would not cut it up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the sheet could be used in pillows. I made one recently from a table runner. Just added some fabric and rickrack to dress it up.
I have seen the bottom of aprons done with vintage embroidery which would be cute.
Maybe you could even use parts of it in a table runner or a small quilt.

Caroline, these look so YOU!!! Very fun. I do not believe you that it's a queen sheet. Just call it something else... maybe a picnic cloth in summer and a tablecloth in spring. Fold it and tuck over the bottom of a guest bed like they do in the fancy hotels, a kind of extra layer on the bed with a little crocheted wrap draped over one corner.
ReplyDeleteLove to you today, Caroline! From your friend on the opposite side of the country who misses you...
Oh, I love it ALL! I have drooled over your past 2 posts. I want you to take me to Metrolina, seriously!! I would never know how to find such fabulous treasures.
ReplyDeleteI would hate to cut up the "sheet"... so yummy all there together. Could you have a back sewn on to make it more of a blanket or quilt (there might be a fancy sewing term for that description). Let us know what you choose!
What about making the butterfly fabric into fancy kind of a cute curtain. The butterfly could be cut and used in whole piece as a bottom border for it. It would be great to make some kind of kitchen accesories. And if you use also some parts of the other fabrics you found it would be wonderfull to make it into pillows. That way it would make nice set.
