Vintage quilts=love

Absolutely in love with these vintage quilts my mom bought many years ago
from an estate sale in Dawson, Georgia.
She used them on twin beds in our house when I was young.
Aren't they beautiful?
Just love the color palette and mix of old fabric pieces.
Oh, can't you just tell these were made with such effort and love?
The detail is just beautiful and the scalloped edges are so pretty.
I called Mom recently and had her dig for them and voila!
Some new aqua bedding and a few updates.
Painted the bedside table aqua and a mirror too.
Planning to take some things off the far right wall and frame some of my fabrics.
Will share that soon.
This room is constantly evolving.
Wish I knew who made these.
I would love to sit and have her teach me....
and hear her inspiration behind her choice of colors, fabric choices and the design.
Do you have a vintage quilt you love and a story to go with it?
Blessings,
Caroline

  1. OH my gosh! I remember these. Isn't it strange how seeing something like that will take you back in time 30+ years in one second! Wow.
They look extra pretty where they are now. Love the updates to their room. Kisses to all.

Oh my goodness!!! Now you have me coveting. As you know, I'm a quilter and you won't believe this but as we speak, I'm working on a quilt with this very design. Some call it Dresden Plate and some call it Grandmother's Fan. I'm making it out of fabrics that I used in my daughter's room when she was a little girl.........sweet pinks, soft greens, yellow. These vintage quilts are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing them with us, and I'll have to ask the Lord to forgive me for my sin of covetousness.

    Have a blessed day!!!!!

I love it! Quilts are amazing and so time consuming! I can't sew, so I have an appreciation for them! How lucky are you that you had 2 in your family!

  4. Caroline, I am sure that you know that this quilt pattern is called "Dresden Plate" but I have also heard it called "Friendship Ring". The quilts are precious and perfect for your girls' room. I do think that the fabric used for the design is 30s fabric and it looks as if (as best I can tell) the quilts are heavily hand quilted...treasures!! Lucky you...and your gals.

ps Look carefully for a name or date somewhere on them...that would really be lucky. Julia
