eyes wide open to goodness, not worry

We saw these sweet tweets recently in the sculpture garden in Washington, DC.
and I saw a few other amazing things which made me think of this:
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:25-26 NIV

This verse grounds me and brings me back to reality.
When I get wrapped up in the BUSY, BUSY, BUSY....
and the worldly selfish trappings, (which unfortunately happens quite often)
I ask him often to OPEN MY EYES SO THAT I MAY SEE
the world in the way He sees it.
I even asked this as I toted the camera through the streets of our nation's capital.
Have you tried it?
Ask Him... He will open your eyes.
You will see beauty in the mundane.
You will see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
You will see color and texture and design so intricate you can't even wrap your head around it.
This may be one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken...
just look at the detail of this butterfly.
More soon on the amazing experience of being in the butterfly garden
at the Air & Space Museum.

Another example of God's goodness in creation and proof that
He takes care of even the smallest of needs.
And the verse goes on to say this:
See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Why do we even worry?
He really does have the whole world in his hands.
and the verse goes on even further to say this:
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

And in St. Michaels, Maryland the kids and I spotted this furry friend
nibbling on summer blades of grass.
I can't wait to show you the photographs I took
of architectural details in Washington, DC
loaded with inspiration.
Stay tuned...
Let me know what you see
when your eyes are wide open.
xoxo,
Caroline

  1. What do I open my eyes to see? I think it's God's handwriting on the world. From my blog you know what I see... mostly rural goodness at home, and then all sorts of surprises when I travel. One of my favorite things to see is the faces of people I treasure but don't often get to see face to face... like you, my sweet friend. God bless you today! Great blog post!
