Off to Atlanta soon to THIS busy place.
I get to meet with current clients and potential ones about art licensing partnerships.
It's a fun and fast-paced few days, a good mama break (even though I miss them),
but it always energizes me with new design and product development ideas.
I am able to visit showrooms and see current products I have designed which is super exciting,
see folks face to face who I really enjoy working with,
and have time with fellow artists who, like me,
are incredibly passionate about this industry.
Thrilled to be able to use my new iPad to show my art collections during meetings.
I have my watercolor butterfly design as my iPad skin and I am enjoying it so much.
Remember you can shop for my SKINIT designs for any device HERE!

let's have a give away!!!!!
I made three mason jar pin cushion/sewing kits for three lucky winners

All you have to do is leave a comment on the blog
telling about your favorite thing you have ever handmade!
yep, made with your own hands...not purchased in a store.
Made by you, and you alone.
That could be...
a recipe
a sewing project
a painting
something you knitted
something you quilted
a letter you wrote by hand
a craft project
a garden project you planted with your hands hand....
you get the idea.
So let's hear it!

you will be entered TWICE.
Thanks sweet readers!
I will be back soon to post sometime next week with snaps of my Atlanta market time
and an announcement with the three lucky winners!
Blessings!
xoxo,
Caroline
Using you as a source of inspiration I made these for the children for Easter: painted canvases in their favorite colors, made crosses out of driftwood twigs from Hunting Island using wire to tie them, typed out scripture (or all the verses of Amazing Grace for Anna-her favorite song)and glued them to the canvas along with the twig crosses. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!

Love the colors, love the ideas, love, LoVE, lOvE!

ReplyDeleteCaroline,
You are a blessing each day I read your blog. You are so creative and I love to try some of your ideas!!
The best thing I ever made was a classroom quilt for my daughters class. Each child made a 5x5 self portrait.
It was so awesome to see the teachers face when we presented it to her! It was a wonderful opportunity to
Bless others!
Blessings to you and your family.

Congratulations on your two new lines of fabric. My favorite handmade creations was the christening gown I made for my very first grandchild, Audrey. It was a lot of work and hand sewing, but worth it.
ReplyDeleteI used to sew clothes for myself...direction changed when I have a baby :) I focusing more to sewing for my baby.. My favorite handmade project would be baby booties.. Tough but when I think of how my baby will wear it, give me courage to carry on.. My next project will be baby quilt.. I stopped awhile because my belly is so big and it limit me to sew big project...so now, I more focus on small project... Thanks for the chance.. Love the save the world line :)

ReplyDeleteThe favorite quilt that I ever made is my Iris quilt - pieced with curves and I designed some of the blocks. All hand quilted too. Thanks for the givea
ReplyDeleteI have become a new subscriber and look forward to your posting. The best thing I ever made with my hands was a two piece evening gown that I knit out of metallic gold and silver yarn. It had a circular skirt and the top was made in a diamond pattern with gold beads at the intersections. It was just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm a.new follower. The fabric is fab! I think the thing I made that I'm most proud of (other than my kids of course) is the 1st jumper I ever knitted. It was a very simple pattern and s bit rough bt I loved my lad wearing it. The most recent thing that's made me proud is a cute little romper I made for my lass. She looks v cute in it. Looking forward to reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing I ever made is a cute littlevbaby afghan with puffy flowers!

ReplyDeleteHi, I have just come over from Amanda's blog not sure if you would send this international as it is heavy but having a go just in case. ReplyDeleteMy first quilt ever was a quillow for my mum's 80th birthday - it stayed by her side until the day she died
ReplyDeleteYears ago I made pin cushions out of 6 stuffed fabric triangles sewn together on two corners. I was so proud of them. They held up, too. I once made a jacket with seminole stripping. It was really cute, but everyone asked me if I had made it. Think it looked a little too "handmade."
ReplyDeleteThe favorite thing that I made is an extra large throw that I made and hand quilter for my father. He had to get blood transfusions weekly for the last two years of his life, and needed the extra warmth.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm a follower.

ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! : )
ReplyDeleteBoy, that's a tough one. My mind jumped back to when my kids were little and Sesame Street was brand new. I made a whole set of the puppets. They lasted for years and were used a LOT in puppet shows. I always enjoyed just seeing them sitting around even. :)
ReplyDeleteThx for that memory. Really cute pincushions...I'd love to win one.
I'm new follower #72.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the release of your first (of many!) fabric lines!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite made-by-me project was a simple draw string skirt using a Robert Kaufman black and white graphic print on the bias. I wear it to work at least once a week during the summer. It's uber comfy, not to mention stylish!
I am merrily following along!
ReplyDeleteI started a bed skirt for one bed and part way through decided to use it for a taller bed. I figured out a way to add a coordinating fabric to make it look like a double layered skirt and be the correct length. Makes me happy to know I did it myself.
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens! Thank you sweet ladies for your kind comments and so glad you have joined me over here at Designing For the Soul! Keep the comments coming and check back next week for the winners! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHopping from Amanda's blog...and now a follower. The best thing that i have made myself would be my needlebook that I have given away to a friend. It's in lovely variegated threads of green and yellow to match the hardanger motive of sunflower.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower. I hand-pieced and hand-quilted a quilt for a good friend and had friends and family sign blocks. I found themed fabric with some of her favorite things; ie, shoes, jewelry, etc
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I am a brand new follower - following Amanda and she mentioned her fellow designer. Second, wow. Ive made a little bit of everything. Ive made several quilts, probably the most cherished is the one for my DMIL. I tested a pattern recently for Amanda which was a treat - and my first. Ive handquilted a couple of quilts after stencils flowers back in the day. I made a water color sailboat in the sunset painting and what I refer to a fishing village as well as a mountain scene done in acrylics. I made homemade Christmas cards that turned out nicely. And of course, anything with the work cheesecake has been a treat - most recently a key lime cheesecake that was surprisingly tasty.
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics are very vibrant and cheerful. Your pincushions are very unique - what a neat idea! Thank you.

ReplyDeleteSo now I'm also a new subscriber to your lovely blog site! My favorite handmade project this week has been weaving with satin ribbons a hanging Lavender basket that has the center filled with the lavender blooms on their stalks. My youngest son's girl friend and I spent a happy afternoon together sipping tea and weaving the Lavender blooms with the satin ribbons as I taught her how to create the small summer's memory project. She's planning to gift her mother with her completed Lavender hanging basket!
ReplyDeletethe most favorite thing I ever made was a punch needle pillow with sheep on it.
ReplyDeleteI am here via Amanda.
Love your new fabric lines! Cute pincushion jars! I always enjoyed crafts. I remember one particular Christmas when I was about 11 years old. I'd asked for craft kits, and my mom found several kinds. My gifts included embroidery kits, decoupage, and a string art project. My favorite project, even to this day, is the string art sailboat kit. The kit contained a wooden base for the sailboat's hull, a backing board, pattern for placement of all the tiny nails, and the string. It's my favorite because my dad helped me place all the nails straight and even. I wound the string to create the sails. I gave the finished project to my dad, and he was so proud of it. It always hung in his den. After he died, I brought the string art sailboat to my house and hung it on my wall. It reminds me of my dad and the fun we had working on the project together.

The first thing I made was I canned bread and butter pickles. They were so good that I only got one jar out of the whole batch. The best part is I didn't have a caner just used a pot and put a towel on the bottom so the jars wouldn't break.
ReplyDeleteI am a newbe to your blog
A favourite thing I made was a soft toy dragon out of felt for my second daughter - she's now 22 and she still has it sitting on her dresser. I'm now a follower - and I love your fabrics! I wonder where they will be available in Oz...

ReplyDeleteQuilts for my own two babes are my favourite things I've ever made. To put my heart and hand into the first things my kids ever became really attached to was worth every stitch!
ReplyDeleteHard to nominate my favourite, but one of the most satisfying things was making two giraffe soft toys that were sent as Christmas gifts to a Foundation that supported children who came from disadvantaged backgrounds. Not only did I learn something - to successfuly turn and stuff the tiny horns - but they went to a great cause too.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline,
ReplyDeleteJust clicked the follow button. I was directed her from Amanda Murphy's blog. So glad to hear about this site!
My favorite thing? Of course, a quilt for a little boy who grew up in one of the oldest orphanges in Atlanta. These kids will grow up in this place so his will be his very own possesion. When it is time to move on, he can bring it with him. (he wanted puppies, his favorite color was brown) It was my delight to do that!

I did subscribe to your blog and confirmed my subscription. I cam via Amanda Murphy and I'm glad I did. i've been going through your archives and you have truly inspired me.
#2 Something I made
The most important and rewarding project I've ever undertaken was my first quilt and that was 10 years ago, this coming December. I made it for my 1st grandchild and at the time we didn't know the sex. So the quilt was neutral both the fabric and pattern were Debbie Mumm. Blues, greens, and yellows...wtih moons and stars. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I had never made a quilt let alone the fact that I decided to handquilt and hopefully it would last and become a true heirloom. It took me 4 months to handquilt and each and every stitch was filled with so much love and as I took each stitch I put thoughts of love and prayers for a healthy happy baby. Dreams for the child's future, prayers for the parents to keep their faith strong and that God would help them with all the challenges of parenthood. That baby, my 1st granchild turned out to be a boy, Andrew. He just turned 9 a couple of months ago and he still has his quilt. I tell him that whenever he needs a hug from Nana (we live in another state), just wrap the quilt around him and he'll feel all my love. As a result he has named it the Love Quilt. What a precious boy he is. Gosh maybe I've gone on and on...but I wanted to share how important that project was to me and now also to my grandson.
Thank you for the opportunity win one of those adorable pincushions.

I made a great bag to use when I travel....it has so ay pockets.
