We celebrated the girl's 7th birthday a bit early before all their friends disperse for the summer.
They requested an art project Birthday party.
Luckily I still had some art palette invitations left over from the early Multiple Blessings' days.
The party took quite a lot of planning and organization and honestly, there were a few days last week
I wish I had just paid for an easy Monkey Joe's party...
but now that it's over I am so happy we did it and it really was worth the effort.
They really loved it and I hope they'll have great memories from this day.
The girls are in different classes this year at school so that means some different friends and lots of them. We ended up with 25 total so I split the girls into 5 groups of 5.
I printed large name tag stickers with their rotations.
We had them rotate through 5 art project stations and it worked so well.
If they finished early they just drew pictures with sidewalk chalk
or played with bubbles or ran through the back yard and played in the treehouse.
The kids and even the boys helped some with pre-party prep. They cut out all of the paper palettes themselves and also colored to look like paint on each.
David added taped the palettes and paint brushes to the bags for me
and this is what the party favor bags looked like by the end of the celebration!
We filled them with all the art projects they made at the party along with some candy.
STATION #1
was Create your own Canvas!
The parents let me know each of the girl's favorite colors and I pre-painted each canvas so that when they arrived their name was on the back and their background was good to go.
At this station, they could cut and glue paper and/or paint whatever they wanted. It was amazing what all they came up with...so many beautiful end results.
And I think parents were thrilled to take home an original piece of art made by their daughter.
in action...
one of the many cute canvases...
another one also showing our next art project station....self portrait paper dolls.
STATION #2
was Make a Self-Portrait Paper Doll Magnet
These cute cardboard cut outs are from Michaels...
wiggly eyes, markers, glue and self adhesive magnets...
STATION #3
I put my creative William in charge of this station...
He helped the girls create wonderful mini sculptures of sea creatures, peace symbols, flowers and more!
We let them dry in the driveway in the baking sun.
STATION #4
was Make Your Own Button!
I had made one for each of my girls as a sample but encouraged them to do whatever they wanted.
They turned out so cute!
Again, materials from my favorite store...Michaels.
happy button wearer and birthday girl...
STATION #5
was Have Your Face Painted!
Bless my sweet Mother...I announced thirty minutes before the party started
that I wanted her to be in charge of that station.
She did a great job and all the girls loved the designs on their faces and hands.
they did this while they waited their turn...
and this...
and some of them went inside to sign the birthday chalkboard wall...
The cake I made with two box mixes...Duncan Hines chocolate with vanilla cream cheese icing.
I always make their cakes.
I figure if I can paint with paint, I can paint with icing.
I did two 9x13 pans and placed them together, free hand cut the shape of an artist palette and covered it with icing. I used food coloring to make the other colored icing and added a paint brush and squeezed the extra from a small zip lock baggie to make their names.
It turned out really cute I think, don't you?
And they girls loved it!
Can't believe my babies will be 7 this week.
Hope this inspires some of you to try a party like this...it really was so much fun!
Winner for the Coasterstone giveaway will be announced tomorrow...you have one more day to enter HERE!
