READY, SET, SURTEX!
woo-hoo!
Heading to the big apple for fun and work.
Love getting to be with so many wonderful and talented friends who enjoy this industry!
I found this old globe recently from my flea market visit
which you may remember from here.
It has been fun to show the kids exactly where I will be
and talk about the tall skyscrapers and taxi cabs.
I miss them already.
So I wanted a unique item for my press kit so I came up with
"unlock the door to great design"
and was lucky enough to find these antique replica skeleton keys from Stampington Company.
They are heavy and are exactly what I wanted.
So I holed punched the oversized postcards and tied a key to each one.
Clever, I hope and eye-catching...
And my amazing friend Lillian finished the birds for me!
They are so dang cute I can't stand it! These will be strung in the booth
and I promise tons of photos when I return.
Aren't they cute sporting my new fabric collection for Robert Kaufman?
Lillian was so nice, she even made me a zippered pouch with one of the extra bird cut outs!
How darling is this?
And my nice friend Katie surprised me this week and left this on my front porch.
She made this herself using these gorgeous seeds....yes seeds!
They are Acai seeds from Acai Palm trees which are are tumbled so they shine and are dyed.
Isn't it stunning?
And this came in the mail too...an invitation for all the Tiny Prints designers...
they are having a cocktail party for us in the city Monday night.
Perhaps I'll wear my new necklace then.
Thank you sweet Katie!
So if you happen to be headed to NYC
for Surtex or the National Stationery Show,
PLEASE come by my booth (#634) and say hello!
I would love to meet you!
And to all my wonderful
DESIGNING FOR THE SOUL readers...hang tight;
I will be gone six days but I will be back with a full report and great photos to share!
xoxo,
Caroline
