Mother's Day weekend

Hope those of you who are mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day!
It was a full weekend of baseball, soccer, road race, golf & golf tournament, church,
Mother's Day brunch, and lots of other happenings here.
Just before we headed to church I received  this surprise...
David had purchased this great oil painting for me which reminds us of our beloved Edisto Island.
It is beautiful and was created by Allison Chambers.

Allison Chambers was born in Wilmington, N.C. After graduation from college, she moved back to Charlotte and had a successful decorative painting business for 20 years. In 2008, she began studying under Andy Braitman and Susan Matthews.  Allison has also taken workshops with Connie Winters, Ken Auster and Curt Butler. Now that Allison has started putting oil on canvas, she  never wants to stop. Allison resides in Charlotte with her husband and 6 kids.
and the wrapping was wonderful too!
another great win for the Cameron Harris Red Dogs!
and everyone in our family was able to attend at least one of the days
Such a beautiful golf course!
and these two golf-obsessed friends were on TV all day Sunday
as they followed Jonathan Byrd all 18 holes.
We were all bummed he came in second to Lucas Glover.
I was able to have a few hours alone today at one of my all time favorite places.
Haven't been there since this day, remember that?
I always take my camera because I find myself inspired by color and pattern
in the strangest places.
Where most may view it as junk, I view it as a treasure hunt for something unique.
Just loved this vintage table cloth blowing in the breeze.
FABULOUS color combo, don't you think?
and these vintage sewing patterns had me giggling...
because actually many of styles are back in fashion.
And it got me thinking about my fabric collections for Robert Kaufman
which will be out this summer.
woo-hoo!

As soon as I saw this set of fabulous antique china I had to snap a picture and e-mail EDDIE.
Sweet fella responded and he loved them, which I knew he would.
Can't wait to see you in NYC Eddie!
yummy, buttery yellow pitcher...
would be great with fresh flowers spilling from it.
just loved this set of vintage glasses...
they just look so retro and glamorous.
Wish I had gotten them now.
saw this hand-made felt pillow
looooove it!
Reminds me a bit of my
TANGERINE ROSE painting which sold at the recent Carolina Art Soiree.
cool wire lamp...
gorgeous flowers & ferns for sale too...
there's just about something for everyone here,
even during the slower months....
this was not one of the big Metrolina shows like back in November.

bolts of great fabric for any project...
colorful rugs...
loved this one!
I snapped this for Walker because this guy's booth was full of antique golf collectibles
and although this may not look cute on the hanger, it's darling on
and was a whopping $10 for this pinkish salmon wool lined coat.
It did not have buttons or a zipper so I went in search of a fun brooch or vintage button.
And yes, in this bin of junk, I found a mother of pearl
pinkish salmon oval vintage belt buckle I scored for $5
which you can see above.
I am making this into my brooch for my coat.
So for a total of $15 I have a fabulous new winter coat.
woo-hoo!
Then, oh my...I happened upon a booth with some great vintage clothing.
I scooped up these snakeskin boots from Spain which look like they have never been worn.
$15 double woo-hoo!
Don't laugh...I heard a tip recently which suggested placing empty wine bottles in your boots
so they don't bend in your closet!
I think it's a great idea so I'm trying it!
and yippee....have been searching for some cowgirl boots JUST like this for about a year...
*found these fabulous leather Durango boots...
purchased them for $30
so that's a quick recap....
now feet forward as I head toward the final stretch
preparing for Surtex
I will blog a few more days then will be checking out and heading to NYC.
I have super fun plans in the city with great designer friends
and I am giddy with excitement about what God has in store for all of us.
Thanks for tagging along, for your constant support and friendship.
It means so much to me.
Have a wonderful beginning of your week!
xoxo,
Caroline
