brave girl

Well this is one way to start the weekend....

One weekend a year we get away with couples, no kids to my parent's beach house.

We are beyond grateful for this opportunity as you can imagine 

and look forward to the mental and physical retreat HERE.

If you are mom you know just how hard it is to get out of town. 

But late yesterday our sweet Charlotte fell off the monkey bars and did "something" to her arm.

We "watched it" last night but this morning it was swollen and I knew she really had done some damage.

We could not be seen immediately so we had a quick visit to Starbucks for a special hot chocolate for her and some hot java for Mommy.

I needed caffeine badly!

By the way Pinky Poodle joined us for this date.

She chewed her nose off when she was a baby if you are wondering from the photo.

So we finally found out from the pediatrician that we needed to head to 

Ortho Carolina for an x-ray and visit.

After LOTS of waiting and TONS of paperwork we found out that 

our most cautious and "rule follower child" of the four had broken her arm near her elbow and was going to be placed in a full arm cast for several weeks. 

She was so very sweet and brave!

All the while, my amaaaaaaaaazing in-laws are at our house 

getting laundry and cleaning and cooking done so I can leave town.

They are so wonderful and are now taking care of this sweet brave soul and three others so we can have a much needed retreat.

And bless my parents too who are letting us use the beach house all weekend!

Charlotte was so brave

and she is super excited to have her friends and teachers sign her cast tomorrow!

It was not how I was planning to spend the morning and certainly not something Charlotte wanted 

but out time together was precious and special and a moment I will never forget!
