YOU are amazing,
yes you sweet people out there who continue to read my random writings
about how my design work, my faith and my family all converge.
YOU
have big hearts
and you have come out of the wood work
to help sweet Sloan and her family.
Let me share that many of you who have never even met Kate or her daughter
feel compelled to write her, donate scarves, gift cards, hats, socks,
magazines, snacks and so much more.
My foyer is filled.
Fabulous artists from Charlotte and as far away as the west coast
have agreed to donate original art for Sloan's hospital room.
One of my blog readers e-mailed today and is part of a Quilter's Guild.
Their sweet group is creating a quilt just for Sloan!
Bless you Julia and the Charlotte Quilter's Guild.
This kind of love you cannot define.
It means that YOU are being the hands and feet of Jesus.
yes, you.
You are making love transform from a noun to a verb...
YOU have put love into action and you are
doing unto others as you would have them do to you.
Please continue to lift up sweet Sloan, her parents and the medical team in your prayers.
Sloan's leukemia is so rare that she is the first recorded pediatric patient with this in the world.
We are hopeful that she can also be the first pediatric patient
to win the battle against this ugly, nasty cancer.
Miracles do happen...remember this one?
Kate asked that anyone in Charlotte who has not been swabbed for bone marrow testing,
PLEASE go this weekend to St. Gabriel's Church to have that done this weekend.
More info here on the drive and hope for another leukemia victim Jordan Jemsick.

I promised you a peek of the collage I created for Sloan.
I boo-hooed the entire time I made it, but kept praise music blaring in the studio to keep me sane.
I have been really inspired lately and have been keeping a journal with me at all times
so when words come to mind...I write them down.
Lately I have been flooded with ideas and even found an old hymnal
and shredded the music for a bird nest.
Wasn't sure why this came to mind and then...
wouldn't you know that Sloan's scripture for confirmation was this:
so when words come to mind...I write them down.
Lately I have been flooded with ideas and even found an old hymnal
and shredded the music for a bird nest.
Wasn't sure why this came to mind and then...
wouldn't you know that Sloan's scripture for confirmation was this:
Psalm 66:1-2
Shout with joy to God, all the earth!
Sing the glory of His name;
Make his praise glorious!
So I have done a large canvas with a mom bird (Kate) and dad bird (Labron)
on branches looking over their daughter bird (Sloan)
in the nest made of hymns and the branches are the scripture.
I hope they will love it.
You must know, amidst this tragic situation, God's hand is so evident.

C, I love the art for Sloan. They are sure to treasure this. The shredding of the music, priceless! Thinking and praying each day for a miracle for Sloan. I have some beautiful shots of her (she is so photogenic!) from our photo shoot, I'm thinking of something to create for her hospital room. I will post your Fun Friday on my FB wall! ;)

Please do not enter me in the contest ... I just really wanted to comment.
ReplyDeleteYour painting for Sloan... BEAUTIFUL!!! God was definitely in your studio for the creation of the masterpiece. God was with you, the same way that He is with Sloan and Kate each and every moment. He is amazing and He does amazing things!
A little advice... you might want to take extra "God Bless You"s when you take your painting to Kate and Sloan, I think you will all need them!
Have a wonderful weekend!
The collage is so beautiful! I start each morning by reading your blog and it gives me a wonderful frame of mind for the rest of the day. Thanks for your daily inspiration and all you are doing to help Sloan and her family.
