visiting the warrior

Just a quick update...
I let Walker skip the early part of school this morning
and we loaded up the car with all of your generous goodies and words of encouragement.
It was so nice to have his help carrying it all up there and he was anxious to see her since they have been communicating back and forth for a few days.
We just learned that Sloan means "warrior"
and I cannot think of a better way for us to honor her than to be her prayer warriors.
It was quite a blessing to be able to deliver all of the wonderful things you all donated...gifts of all sorts, magazines, devotionals, scarves, hats, socks, snacks, original art, a hand made quilt and more.
Your outpouring of love to her amazes me.
Backtracking a bit before we left this morning, sweet Julia...one of my faithful blog readers
showed up with several hand made quilts made by the ladies in the Charlotte Quilter's Guild.
Walker helped select just the right one for sweet Sloan.
Isn't it beautiful?
And she can use a fabric market to have her friends and nurses and family sign her special quilt.
She loved it! Thank you Julia!!!
Sloan and Kate were so appreciative to have these this morning as they wait on this afternoon's chemo.
A dry erase board is full of scripture and the walls are filling up with cards and art leans agains the window with the sunlight pouring through. There was beauty and light in the room desite the dark situation. Sloan is sporting a fabulous new short haircut which she doesn't love but she really looks great. Her real hair will be made into a wig so that's a blessing.
You can follow Sloan's journey on her new Caring Bridge site
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sloanchambers
Kate encourages you all to visit that regularly, sign the guestbook and also please spread the word about the bone marrow drive this weekend at St. Gabriel's Church tomorrow!
Heading to our church Women's Retreat in a bit and Kate wishes she could have attended
but she knows their family will be lifted up in prayer there all weekend.
Thank you for your outpouring of love and prayers to this family.
They are most grateful!
xoxo
Caroline
