I have been meeting with a personal trainer.
She's AWESOME....
She's AWESOME....
even though the day after our first session
I was whining and saying bad words because I was in so much pain I could hardly move.
The laundry did not get done that day because I could not get down our stairs.
I was whining and saying bad words because I was in so much pain I could hardly move.
The laundry did not get done that day because I could not get down our stairs.
Seriously, it hurt to hug my kids.
Better now, because I am keeping up with it and exercising often
so there is less pain and more motivation to keep stretching and working out.
Mary Bryan and I have been laughing too,
because although she is whipping me into action and shape,
because although she is whipping me into action and shape,
she fills me up with words of affirmation. (my love language...what's yours?)
"You're doing a great job!"
"Come on 2 more minutes!"
"You can do anything for 30 more seconds!"
"Push it, push it!"
"You got it, girl!"
Even when I am not doing well she shouts encouraging words.
Thanks Mary Bryan!
This is becoming a priority and a commitment.
It's in my calendar and sends me a flashing reminder on the days I have committed to exercise.
It takes dedication, effort, prioritizing...putting the time in to reap the benefits.
We make time to eat meals each day, brush our teeth, check e-mail, talk on the phone, drive, buy groceries, etc. so why is it so difficult for us to make an appointment with God, our Creator?
My sweet friend Tara, talks a lot about making an appointment with God each day.
I know for sure that when I start my day in the Word even if it's for 5-10 minutes,
I feel covered and blessed.
Today in Bible Study we discussed this quote in the book we're reading...
"Things we spend time on inherently take time away from other things.
So constantly ask, is this the best and highest use of my time?"
This was very convicting to me...ka-pow!
Am I seeking first His kingdom?
Am I honoring Him in the choices I make each day, in the details of each day?
In the design work I am doing? In the way I speak to my kids and husband and friends?
Here's a little math equation that's going on my bathroom mirror:
regular time with the Lord each day
+ regular exercise each day
= a happier and healthier body and soul
Hebrews 12:1
"...and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
Proverbs 22:6
"Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it."
The Lord is the best personal trainer because He knows exactly how to push us out of our comfort zone.
Out of that warm, soft bed after we've hit snooze 3 times.
He's already laid the ground work for the day, for the week, for all the months and years ahead.
He knows how to stretch us and grow us into strong believers.
We can be toned and have a firm foundation through Him.
We just need to make appointments with him for training.
xoxo,
Caroline

Great going, Caroline. Love how you tied it all together here. My time with the Lord is the first thing I do in the morning and on those rare occasions I miss it it feels like I'm only half there- awful! When we go to Surtex maybe we can spend time with Him together in the mornings over breakfast before a brisk walk to the show (IF we can find the energy... might have to take the shuttle!)
ReplyDeleteSo funny that I started with a personal trainer too. I love how you related faith with exercise. My trainer, Taylor, always gives me encouragement and all the new exercise is making me feel great. My long runs give me a great chance to speak with the Lord and commune with nature. I like Proverbs 3: 5-6 and Isiah 40: 31, the one that says those who hope in the Lord will not grow weary. Unending strength, that's what I need.
