Anonymous blessings...

I love it when I hear of anonymous donations.
It means the focus is not on the giver but instead just blessing the recipient.
I have seen this over and over again and have on occasion been the recipient and the giver.
It feels good on both sides, don't you agree?
Just the other day I was at a coffee shop and the person in front of me paid for my coffee.
Little blessings out of the blue.
And I thought about that all day with a big smile on my face
while looking for an opportunity to bless someone else because I had been blessed.

Once I was at the mall with my two young boys and my 2 month old twin girls.
I am not sure if the man in front of me was just being sweet and kind insisting to the cashier
that he pay for our lunches
or maybe he just felt sorry for me with my entourage and overflowing diaper bags.
With gratitude I finally caved and as I thanked him,
he said, "Just promise to do this for someone else sometime."
I will always remember that and I have followed up.
I have done that for another young mother fumbling to find her wallet
with a slew of young ones clinging to her legs.
I have been there!
I have paid for the person behind me in the Starbucks drive through
every time I am at the one in South Carolina near my parent's house.
Any drive through works because by the time you are at the window to pay,
the person behind you has already called in their order.
You may get to see their huge smile and shock as you drive slowly away
but even if you don't
your heart will be happy knowing they will be sharing that story with others and
hopefully looking for an opportunity to do the same.
Paying it forward is contagious!
You can even see 91.9 New Life Christian radio here in Charlotte
has a special section dedicated to this called
The Drive Through Difference
Drive through and order a meal for the homeless man on the corner.
We've done this before with our kids and more often than not, it was their idea.
Great lessons in blessing those we don't know by name.
Let's challenge each other, why don't we?
Let's all try to anonymously bless someone this weekend.
You have until Monday...ready, set, go bless!
I want to hear all your reports back in the comment section below!
xoxo,
Caroline

  1. Hey there, friend!

You might not get many comments and here's my theory... the best good deeds are done in secret. You never tell. As my old friend said, "Nevah, nevah, nevah evah!"

Suffice it to say there are lots of us grinning and not breathing a word about it. It's too fun to keep mum and smile!

    Miss you... must talk soon...
