Spontaneous art and faith lesson

A couple of weeks ago I found myself home with one sick little girl and no other children. I was sorry she did not feel well, but loved the time alone with just her. I figured she would want to be on the sofa watching a movie but she actually wanted me to sit and paint with her. Throw me in the briar patch!
After our recent garden tour at my parent's garden, I decided to teach her how look at an object and paint what you see...your own interpretation of what you see. I showed her paintings of Georgia O'Keefe and then we enlarged the images from Lady's garden and began sketching together.
She chose this flower from Lady's garden but asked if she could paint it with rainbow colors.
"Of course!," I said.
Then here's what transpired...

Beautiful!
So I chose this one from Lady's garden...
and began a rough sketch...

We had a grand time painting together and I felt six again too!
Here's to our kids encouraging us to "be still" with them while they teach us inspiration!
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm  46:10

  1. This is God's gift of the child...reminding us and showing us how to be still. Thank you for sharing Caroline.
