Planning the Luau

This weekend we're celebrating the girl's 6th birthday
with a luau at our swim club
even though their real birthday isn't until next week.
They actually requested a "fruit smoothie party"
but it turned into a luau with a fruit smoothie station
where I'll be blending away on the spot.
There will be hibiscus clips for the hair braiding station,
a foam noodle for the limbo,
a hoola hoop station,
grass skirts
and lays.
And the girls did all the party favors themselves this year.
Should be fun, and hope the rain holds!
Wanted to share this fun table decoration idea.
Found out about parasol topiaries HERE
...they are super perfect and cute on their site,
but I changed it a bit so I'll walk you through
in case you want to try this for a fun summer party!
You may be horrified to know that these are actually toilet plungers.
But hang on...they are new and have never been used.
I spray painted the plungers white and pushed the large styrofoam ball on top
...adding a bit of hot glue inside to make it secure.
Then just start placing colorful parasols into the foam
until you've got it completely covered.
I added toy flamingos to the tops
because I had them already from another event.
Then cover the base of the plunger with colorful tissue
and tie with a pretty ribbon!
VOILA!
I am sure to be back next week
with more luau photos than you care to see!
Have a grand weekend!
xoxo,
C
