Charlotte is buzzing because
the Quail Hollow Championship has been here all week.
We are blessed to live oh so close to it
and have been able to attend...even the kids too.
Our 12 year old, who loves golf the most,
would sleep there if we'd let him. Seriously!
Here are a few shots from Wednesday's pro-am,
the only day cameras are allowed.
the only day cameras are allowed.
(18th green on Quail Hollow Country Club)
Even if you don't play, you know, golf is a challenging game.
The pros practice daily and even the best of the best still mess up.
I spent all day Friday out at the tournament and it got me thinking...
golf and faith have many connections.
We humans make mistakes, we fall short,
sometimes we "land in the bunker," "in the woods," or "in the ruff".
(yes, that's Michael Jordan in the pro-am...hitting out of the bunker)
Sometimes we miss the cup by a only an inch;
sometimes by a long shot.
Sometimes we hit the ball into the water
even though it clearly has a sign marking that area as a hazard,
warning us of danger.
We sometimes feel like drowning and giving up.
We keep making errors, poor judgments;
we continue to sin.
And God is always there, cleaning up our mess,
forgiving us anyway and trying to help us like a great golf coach...
encouraging us daily to straighten it all out,
to trust and follow the rules (His rules);
to be calm, to believe and have peace.
Winning and victory can come to us too,
even though we are not professional golfers.
We can have victory and a winning record too
when we allow Christ to live within us.
when we allow Christ to live within us.
And the best golf grip is when we are really in His grip!
Who needs all these signatures anyway?
They're great and all, and certainly exciting for the kids.
But if we have God's signature on our heart...
well that's just the best signature we can collect.
Ever.
Here's to golf, to a great PGA tour,
and to all of the faith lessons we can learn on the golf course!
Have a beautiful start to your week!
Let's hittem' straight!
Let's hittem' straight!
xoxo,
C
